Asolo Prosecco DOCG

A hillside denomination, a choral voice

Asolo Prosecco DOCG

Asolo Prosecco DOCG is the appellation that best expresses our identity – both as producers and as part of this land. It holds our past and our future. It’s where our production chain begins, and where we find our sense of responsibility.

Created in 2009 yet rooted in a centuries-old viticultural culture, Asolo DOCG represents the most elegant and vertical expression of the Prosecco world. It is an entirely hillside denomination, stretching between Montello and the Colli Asolani, distinguished by the quality of its grapes, the diversity of its soils, and the finesse and balance of its structure and aromas.

Today, Cantina Montelliana is the only cooperative fully rooted within Asolo Prosecco DOCG – the organised voice of this land, built day by day through shared work.

Origin and characteristics

A mosaic of 18 municipalities

Asolo DOCG extends over a limited hillside area encompassing 18 municipalities – a landscape of small, family vineyards shaped over generations. In this context, cooperative work is essential. Cantina Montelliana brings together nearly 400 members within the denomination, acting as collector, guarantor, and interpreter.

Origin and characteristics
Origin and characteristics

Asolo Prosecco DOCG is produced exclusively from hillside vineyards, between 100 and 370 metres above sea level. The combination of marl, limestone, and red clay soils with a breezy climate and pronounced diurnal temperature range ensures balance, health, and finesse in the grapes.Asolo’s sparkling wines are known for their elegance and restraint. Compared to other areas of Prosecco, they are less sweet, more tense, more saline. Floral and citrus aromas, a smooth palate, and a crisp, persistent finish define their character.

Glera is the beating heart of the DOCG. In the hills it reaches a finer expression, thanks to high day–night temperature shifts and the often manual nature of vineyard work. The vines demand constant care, but reward it with grapes of remarkable balance between structure and acidity.
